The degree piece is an attempt to record the history of creation of the main seat of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. This process is exceptionally long (it has lasted since 2005) and turbulent, and it is also particularly important not only for Polish museology, culture and art, but for the city as well. I tried to analyse the process not only from the level of documents and the architectural design. I wanted to take a look at the investment from the inside, to see it from the perspective of the museum personnel and to capture the stage of discussion on the programme vision. The new building is a kind of new opening for the Museum of Modern Art, and this is why the voice of the museum itself sounds very strong in this degree piece. The moment captured by me is unique to this institution not only because of the ongoing construction process. The problems being faced by the Muse um of Modern Art – the pandemic, the conservative turn in societies, an impending economic crisis – refer to museums in general.

The publication is a material record of the process of construction of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, which I observed in the years 2019–2020. The highlighting of opinions expressed by employees of this institution and the use of previously unpublished photographs by Rafał Milach is the conscious act of giving a voice to the museum.
