The basis of my degree piece is a conversation with Mrs Wanda Traczyk-Stawska, a participant in the Warsaw Uprising, whose legacy inspired the entirety of my reflections in this project. I observed the streets of Warsaw. I asked questions about the symbol of Fighting Poland and attempts to manipulate it to Robert Bąkiewicz from nationalist circles, Marta Lempart from the Women’s Strike, representatives of the Polish Grandmothers group, the journalist Oktawia Kromer and Elżbieta Podleśna, who proved in court that it is the intentions that count in the manipulation of symbols.

The minor degree consists of photographic collages combining archival photographs of the Warsaw Uprising with photographs of the modern architecture of Warsaw. The aim of these compositions is to preserve
the memory of the uprising for future generations. And, after all, modern architecture is built on the foundations of history. The history of the uprising. Do we only remember about it every 1st of August?
