The degree piece and minor degree in conservation are projects based on an extensive study. In the case of the large-scale reconstruction, the discovered technology information and Leon Biedroński’s biography details influenced the creation of a new version of the lost painting, which was also the last piece intended for reproduction in the three largest altarpieces in All Saints Church in Warsaw. The painting that is the subject of the minor degree in conservation was successfully identified based on multiple fascinating clues found in the composition, which finally shed some light on its provenance and enabled its identification as Adolf Gottlob Zimmermann’s “Self-Portrait” from 1821.
The course of both projects required an interdisciplinary approach both in theory and in practice, and I intend to maintain such an open mind in my future conservation and artistic career.
