The Echo is a tool created in response to the problem of tabooing death and loss. Its purpose is to make room for and encourage a close-knit group of adults or children to talk about their shared loss. As it is played, the Echo is designed to help open up to one’s memories, thoughts, and feelings among loved ones. It is a possibility to experience loss together and at the same time maintain an individual narrative. The project can potentially support therapists, foundations, or crisis intervention centres.

For me, the creation process of the minor degree was a meditation on grief. In the images, I face subjects that are my subjective associations or experiences with grieving. It is an experience of contradictions and disorder. It is impossible to fully describe what is going on inside a grieving person, and artistic expression sometimes feels more natural than verbal.
