Within the scope of my master’s degree piece, I performed the conservation and restoration of two fans from the turn of the 20th century. They belong to the same group of fashion accessories, but the issues of their conservation were different because of various materials, techniques and damages in both fans. The complex structure of both historic objects required the acquisition of knowledge in other fields of conservation: wood, metal, gilding, paper, watercolour, bone and mother of pearl. The choice of fans for degree piece objects corresponded to my interest in fashion.
