A digital image is a medium of visual information, which – depending on screen resolution – is more or less detailed. The open compositions of my paintings are based on the layout of digital matrices and seem like snippets of a larger whole. As I come closer to the screen, I discard its presentation surface and focus on the mere method of image generation.
The series “Screen Resolutions” is an attempt to reflect the particular light phenomenon of a vibrating and blinking screen in an impressionistic and sensory way. Once the digital image – elusive to our perception – is captured with a painting medium, its essence changes, it becomes fixed, gains value and meaning.
