- Edward Stachura, “Siekierezada”
Stachura’s and Borszewicz’s writings are filled with understatements. Series of memories, reflections, and scenarios written in their mind regarding situations that may have never actually happened. For me, the constant dilemma and uneasiness felt like a good starting point for my artistic endeavours. I welcomed the challenge of designing the set and costumes for the film, in which completely non-chronological reality makes little of the time and space relationship. The purpose of the set design was to produce a very subjective world seen through the eyes of the main character. It is a way into his head, shows key events in his life, and allows the viewers to accompany him in the search for an answer to the question: “What would it be like if I had died yesterday in my lover’s arms, and returned today to meet her?”
