My degree piece is a performance about celebration, the transmission of life, the woman, her role in society, objectification and her body. I show it all through the vessel that she becomes. I cast porcelain forms directly from human bodies; they are a negative. The trace processed by the porcelain is shrunken and altered. The body ennobles the porcelain, the porcelain ennobles the body.
I cast the objects in the Polish porcelain factories Ćmielów and Chodzież S.A., which makes them functional vessels. Each of them is a separate sculpture. The performative action focuses on the woman’s role in society and tells the story of her body that never, in any context, remains neutral. In the centre of the event there is the body, which only feeds or eats when squashed with sweet challah, whereas another woman decides who will be fed and who will not.
