Referring to Gregory Sholette’s text Dark Matter: Art and Politics in the Age of Enterprise Culture, Dark matter describes the world of art as a cosmos in which only the ‘stars’—profiteering influential individuals—are visible. The rest is the invisible ‘dark matter’—the cultural workers who sustain the entire system.

Devoted to still life, the minor Smooth Space, Grooved Space analyses and redefines this concept, revealing contemporary impermanence, decay and impoverishment in the face of global crises. The design creates a vision of contemporary still life that reflects the world in a state of uncertainty, disintegration and freezing in the moment before the disaster.
